The idea of organizing a STEM Carnival at a shopping mall in conjunction with Mingggu Sains Negara was mooted by MACRI at the Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Induk Minggu Sains Negara 2018 on 14 Feb 2018, chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Science,Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Azhar

Da Men Mall in Subang Jaya was proposed as the venue as the Management of Da Men Mall had expressed interest in hosting STEM based events.

The inaugural Karnival STEM was then held at Da Men Mall on 6 to 8 April 2018. It was officiated by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
